Terms of Service

Last updated: August 27, 2026

1. Accepting these terms

By creating a Stride account, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use Stride.

2. Your account

You're responsible for keeping your password secure and for everything that happens under your account. You must provide a valid email address, and you're responsible for its accuracy. It's how we deliver account and billing notices, and how you recover access if you forget your password.

3. Your content

Everything you create in Stride (pages, notes, tasks, messages, and everything else) belongs to you. We don't claim ownership over it. You're responsible for what you create, upload, and share, including making sure you have the right to share it with anyone you invite to a page, group, or conversation.

You agree not to use Stride to store or share anything illegal, to harass or abuse other users, to upload malware, or to attempt to access another user's account or data without authorization.

4. Collaboration and sharing

Stride lets you share pages with other people and message them directly. Once you share a page or send a message to someone, they can see that content for as long as they have access. Removing their access stops future visibility but does not retroactively delete anything they may have already seen, copied, or saved elsewhere.

5. AI helper

Stride includes an in-app "Ask AI" assistant that answers questions about how to use the app, powered by a third-party AI model (see our Privacy Policy for what's sent to it). Its responses are generated automatically and may be incomplete, out of date, or simply wrong, so don't rely on them as the sole source for anything important. The same rules in Section 3 about not storing or sharing anything illegal, and not using Stride to harass or abuse others, apply to how you use the AI helper. We may rate-limit or temporarily suspend access to it to prevent abuse or manage cost, without that affecting the rest of your account.

6. Subscriptions and billing

Stride offers a free trial followed by a paid subscription. Payment is processed by Stripe; we never see or store your full card number. Subscriptions renew automatically until canceled. You can cancel at any time from Settings; your access continues until the end of the current billing period, and we do not provide partial refunds for unused time.

7. Account deletion

You can delete your account at any time from Settings. This permanently deletes your pages, content, and messages, cancels your subscription, and cannot be undone. If you own a page shared with others, they lose access to it when you delete your account.

8. Service availability

We aim to keep Stride reliable, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access. Stride caches your data locally so you can keep working offline; a delete made while offline on multiple devices at once may not always reconcile perfectly across all of them. Direct messages and group chats are end-to-end encrypted (see our Privacy Policy's "Encryption" section). This means your own device, not our servers, holds the only usable copy of the key that unlocks them. If you lose access to every device you were signed into, we cannot recover those conversations, no matter the reason access was lost, because we never had the keys to begin with. We take reasonable technical measures (backups of the data we hold on our servers, offline-first local caching) to reduce the risk of data loss generally; see Section 10 ("Limitation of liability") for how our liability for data loss is limited.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

Stride is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all implied warranties, including the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don't warrant that Stride will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, that any defects will be corrected, or that Stride is free of viruses or other harmful components. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any warranty, guarantee, or other right that applicable law doesn't allow us to exclude or limit.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Stride, and its officers, employees, and contractors, will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising out of or relating to your use of, or inability to use, the service, even if we've been advised of the possibility of such damages.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to these terms or Stride, however that claim arises, is limited to the amount you paid us for the service in the 12 months before the claim arose, or £50, whichever is greater.

This limitation specifically includes liability for data loss. Stride is designed to reduce that risk (your content is cached locally so the app keeps working offline, and we take reasonable technical measures such as backups of the data held on our servers), but we don't guarantee against it. As explained in Section 8, some loss scenarios can't be fixed after the fact even with our full cooperation: if you lose access to every device signed into your account, we have no way to recover the encryption keys for your direct messages and group chats, because those keys are generated and stored only on your own devices and are never sent to us. That isn't a limitation we're disclaiming responsibility for. It's a structural consequence of building messaging that we genuinely cannot read, and no effort on our part can reverse it.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes any liability that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Stride, and its officers, employees, and contractors, from any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in any way connected with: your use of Stride; your violation of these terms; your violation of any rights of another person or entity, including intellectual property, privacy, or publicity rights; or content you create, upload, or share through Stride. We reserve the right to assume the exclusive defense and control of any matter otherwise subject to indemnification by you, in which case you agree to cooperate with our defense of that claim.

12. Termination

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, including abuse of other users, attempts to compromise the service, or fraudulent billing activity, with or without advance notice depending on the severity of the violation. Where practical, we'll try to warn you and give you a chance to fix the issue first.

You can terminate your own account at any time; see Section 7 ("Account deletion"). That's a real, working self-service action, not just a request routed to us: it runs immediately, permanently deletes your pages, content, and messages, and cancels your subscription. Provisions of these terms that by their nature should survive termination (including Sections 9 through 11 and 14) continue to apply after your account is terminated or deleted, whether by you or by us.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll notify you in-app or by email before they take effect.

14. Governing law and dispute resolution

These terms, and any dispute arising out of or relating to them or to Stride, are governed by the laws of England and Wales, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

If you have a dispute with us, please contact us first at support@strideapp.uk. Most issues can be resolved informally, and we'll work with you in good faith to do that before either side takes further action. If a dispute can't be resolved informally within 60 days, it will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, and you and we both agree to submit to that jurisdiction.
